Un/controlled gestures ”2nd Edition”

After a successful online workshop in January, the choreographers of “Un|Controlled gestures, 2nd Edition” met in May for a first residency in Cairo. Under the curatorial direction of Nedjma Hadj Benchelabi and Shaymaa Shoukry, Aїda Jamal (Morocco), Lori Kharpoutlian (Lebanon), Mehdi Dahkan (Morocco), Noura Seif and Salma Abdel Salam (NASA4NASA) (Egypt ), Nermin Habib (Egypt), Yara Boustany (Lebanon) and Ziad Wallace (Egypt) will be presenting . in a public event the “work in progress” of our dance residency’s 2nd edition, which is dedicated to the topic of “deceleration”. Definitely, for many, the involuntary deceleration that we’ve experienced as a result of the pandemic has only highlighted the constraints under which they were living. The lack of mobility has exacerbated the uncontrolled gestures that already limited freedom in our daily life and artistic expression. Un|Controlled Gestures, is a project that explores the power of body language, the power to imagine new futures, to move and transform our present selves and potentially others. The 2nd edition of “Un|Controlled Gestures” is an initiative of the Goethe-Institut in cooperation with “HAU Hebbel am Ufer Berlin” and is curated by “Nedjma Hadj Benchelabi”  and “Shaymaa Shoukry”.

بعد ورشة عمل ناجحة أونلاين في يناير، التقى مصممو الرقصات في مشروع “حركات (بلا) تحكم – النسخة الثانیة” في مايو في أول إقامة فنية لهم في القاهرة. تحت إشراف القيمتين الفنيتين، نجمة الحاج بن شلبي وشيماء شكري، سيقدم الفنانين/ات عايدة جمال (المغرب) ، لوري كربوتليان (لبنان) ، المهدي دهقان (المغرب) ، نوره سيف وسلمى عبد السلام (NASA4NASA) (مصر) ، نرمين حبيب (مصر) ، يارا بستاني (لبنان) وزياد والاس (مصر) “عمل قيد التطوير” للإصدار الثاني من إقامتنا الفنية للرقص، والمخصص لموضوع “التباطؤ” . بالتأكيد ، بالنسبة للكثيرين ، فإن التباطؤ غير الطوعي الذي شهدناه نتيجة للوباء قد سلط الضوء فقط على القيود التي كانوا يعيشون في ظلها.أدى الافتقار إلى الحركة إلى تفاقم الحركات التي بلا تحكم التي حدت بالفعل من الحرية في حياتنا اليومية والتعبير الفني. “حركات (بلا) تحكم” هو مشروع يستكشف قوة لغة الجسد، والقدرة على تخيل مستقبل جديد لتحريك وتحويل أنفسنا في الحاضر وربما الآخرين أيضا.

مشروع “حركات (بلا) تحكم – النسخة الثانیة” هو مبادرة من معهد جوته القاهرة بالتعاون مع HAU Hebbel am Ufer ببرلين وتحت الاشراف الفني لنجمة الحاج بن شلبي وشيماء شكري.

  Dopo un workshop online di successo a gennaio, i coreografi di “Un|Controlled gestures, 2nd Edition” si sono incontrati a maggio per una prima residenza al Cairo. Sotto la direzione curatoriale di Nedjma Hadj Benchelabi e Shaymaa Shoukry, Aїda Jamal (Marocco), Lori Kharpoutlian (Libano), Mehdi Dahkan (Marocco), Noura Seif e Salma Abdel Salam (NASA4NASA) (Egitto), Nermin Habib (Egitto), Yara Boustany (Libano) e Ziad Wallace (Egitto) . in un evento pubblico il “work in progress” della 2° edizione della nostra residenza di danza, che è dedicata al tema del “decelerazione”. Sicuramente, per molti, la decelerazione involontaria che abbiamo vissuto a seguito della pandemia ha solo messo in luce i vincoli in cui vivevano. La mancanza di mobilità ha esacerbato i gesti incontrollati che già limitavano la libertà nella nostra vita quotidiana e nell’espressione artistica. Un|Controlled Gestures, è un progetto che esplora il potere del linguaggio del corpo, il potere di immaginare nuovi futuri, di muovere e trasformare il nostro sé presente e potenzialmente gli altri. La 2a edizione di “Un|Controlled Gestures” è un’iniziativa del Goethe-Institut in collaborazione con “HAU Hebbel am Ufer Berlin” ed è curata da “Nedjma Hadj Benchelabi” e “Shaymaa Shoukry”.
