“Nothing in Between” tells the extraordinary story of the Viennese actress and inventor who transcended Hollywood’s glamour with her brilliance and innovation. Produced and performed by Austrian singer and actress Janine Hickl, the piece combines Viennese and French chansons with swing classics, accompanied by pianist Bernd Leichtfried and cellist Oliver Mohacsi. Featuring prose by Mark Brown, this production highlights both Lamarr’s celebrated acting career and her groundbreaking contributions to science, offering a compelling tribute to a truly multifaceted icon.

Hedy Lamarr, born Hedwig Kiesler in Vienna, was much more than a famous actress—she was also a remarkable inventor. She rose to fame in 1933 with her role in the Czech film Ecstasy. However, her true legacy lies in inventing a frequency-hopping system to protect radio-controlled torpedoes, which later laid the foundation for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. Despite her groundbreaking contributions, recognized posthumously with a National Inventors Hall of Fame induction in 2014, Lamarr faced many challenges. ولدت هيدي لامار باسم هيدفيج كيسلر بفيينا و قد كانت أكثر من مجرد ممثلة مشهورة لقد كانت أيضل مخترعة رائعة. اشتهرت في عام ۱٩٣٣ بدورها في الفيلم التشيكي النشوة و مع ذلك فان ارثها الحقيقي يكمن في اختراعها لنظام التبديل الترددي لحماية الطوربيدات التي يتم التحكم فيها عن طريق الراديو والذي كان تمهيدا لاختراع الواي فاي و البلوتوث و نظام تحديد المواقع. وبرغم اسهاماتها الرائدة والتي تم الاعتراف بها من خلال ادراجها في قاعة المشاهير للمخترعين المحليين عام ٢٠۱٤ فقد واجهت لامار العديد من التحديات. وتظل حياتها شهادة عن قوة الطموح و الابداع والعزيمة التي تعد مصدرا لالهام الأجيال ليومنا هذا
