About Omar Hilal:
Writer, producer, and director Omar Hilal’s debut feature Voy! Voy! Voy! Was released in September ‘23 to rave reviews and held the No.1 spot in the box office across the region for a month, winning both audiences and critics. VOY crowned its success with being selected as Egypt’s entry into the race for an international film Academy Award in its upcoming 96th edition. Hilal is also an award-winning commercial director, with over 50 awards from global festivals including 5 Grand Prix and over 20 gold awards.
Hilal was born in Egypt but raised around the world, having spent the majority of his childhood between Saudi Arabia, Canada, and Italy.
A fluent speaker of English, Italian, and his mother tongue Arabic. Hilal has directed award-winning performances in languages from Arabic to Mandarin; and Hindi to French. A father, a chef, and an avid fan of AS Roma.
