Shereen Abdo is a key figure in the emerging folk music movement. Her taboo-breaking ability to infuse traditional folk music with diverse and progressive sound while remaining faithful to its roots puts her at the forefront of the ongoing reinvention of folk by the contemporary Egyptian musicians. The concert is part of a larger programme at Maq‘ad of Sultan Qaitbey, where you will have the chance to attend the opening of the “I am One and also Two” art exhibition marking this year’s Europe Day, as well as buying fine-quality handmade products at the “Sultan Fair”. This way, you can support local handcrafts makers in the “Desert of the Mamluks” and in the city of Cairo.

This is a ‘first come first served’ FREE event and reservations will not be taken. The seating capacity of our venue within the mediaeval complex of Sultan Qaitbey is limited, so be sure to arrive on time. The events are part of our “Heritage for the Living in the City of the Dead” project, implemented by ARCHiNOS Architecture and primarily funded by the European Union.

شيرين عبده هي ضمن المطربين المؤثرين في حركة احياء موسيقى الفلكلور المصري الناشئة. تسعى شيرين لكسر التابوهات الموجودة من أجل نشر الموسيقى التقليدية بصوت متنوع وعصري مع الحفاظ على وفائها لجذورها، مما يضعها كمطربة في مقدمة المجددين للفولكلور من قبل الموسيقيين المصريين المعاصرين.

هذا الحفل الموسيقي هو جزء من برنامج فاعليات ليوم كامل في مقعد السلطان قايتباي ، حيث ستتاح لكم الفرصة لحضور افتتاح المعرض الفني “أنا واحد واثنان ايضَا” بمناسبة يوم أوروبا، بالإضافة إلى شراء منتجات مصنوعة يدويًا عالية الجودة في “معرض السلطان”. بهذه الطريقة، يمكنكم دعم صناع الحرف اليدوية المحليين في حي “صحراء المماليك” وفي مدينة القاهرة.

Shereen Abdo è una figura chiave nel movimento di musica popolare emergente. La sua capacità di rompere i tabù di infondere la musica folk tradizionale con un suono diverso e progressivo, pur rimanendo fedele alle sue radici, la pone in prima linea nella continua reinvenzione del folk da parte dei musicisti egiziani contemporanei.Il concerto fa parte di un programma più ampio al Maq’ad di Sultan Qaitbey, dove avrai la possibilità di assistere all’inaugurazione della mostra d’arte “I am One and also Two” in occasione della Giornata dell’Europa di quest’anno, oltre ad acquistare raffinati prodotti artigianali di qualità alla “Fiera del Sultano”,  puoi sostenere i produttori di artigianato locale nel “Deserto dei Mamelucchi” e nella città del Cairo.
