1. X-RAY Fashion
“Unveiling the dark truth behind the curtains of fast fashion.”
Fast fashion is cheap, simple, and convenient. The clothes are shipped in bulk from factories across the world and sold at wonderfully affordable prices —but this seemingly quaint and accommodating setup comes at a high price. The groundbreaking virtual reality installation X-Ray Fashion, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2018, reveals the shocking truth behind our consumption habits. Director Francesco Carozzini leads audiences on an eye-opening journey through the dark underbelly of garment production in the fast fashion industry. Walking barefoot along the installation’s textured floors, visitors are invited to experience firsthand the various stages of garment production: from the glamorous catwalk shows of New York, to the inside of a sweatshop in India. Viewers see the local water supplies polluted by fabric dye from the factories, and come face to face with the exploited workers responsible for sewing the same clothes we have grown accustomed to picking absent- mindedly off the racks. X-Ray Fashion is a powerful gaze into the humanitarian and environmental ravages wrought by the fast fashion industry.

2. VR Experience
The aim of any beautiful artwork is to immense viewers in its fictional world; to invite its admirers into a sacred space lying outside the boundaries of everyday reality. Born at the intersection of art and technology, virtual reality allows artists to achieve this in ways previously inconceivable. D-CAF has recently begun to incorporate VR installations, games, and films into its annual program to allow audiences to experience art like never before. This year, D-CAF has put together the Virtual Reality Experience, a cutting-edge display including an Oculus Quest installation curated by VR expert Omar Kamel and a world-class selection of VR films presented in collaboration with The French Institute in Egypt:
1. Notre-dame De Paris: Voyage Dans Le Passé 2. Paris L’Envers Du Décor: L’Opéra Garnier 3. Paris L’Envers Du Décor: La Tour Eiffel 4. Paris L’Envers Du Décor: La Musée D’Orsay 5. L’île Des Morts 6. Monalisa Behind The Glass 7. Altération 8. Lifeline 9. Meet Mortaza

3. Embraces
“Oh, to throw your arms/ Around a stranger/ A wonderful fall/ Merging/ In loving embrace.”
Embraces comprises thirteen artful illustrations, each featuring n embracing couple. The pictures are beautiful in and of themselves, but there is more to each of the images than would appear at first glance. By downloading an app and holding their smartphones up to the drawings, viewers can watch a series of fantastical stop-from animations unfold from the artworks.
