Midan Mounira : conférence du professeur Henry Laurens

The September 2022 lecture for the Munira Square Lecture Series will be presented to you by the French Institute in Egypt and delivered by the great historian Henry Lawrence, who holds the Chair of Contemporary History of the Arab World at the Collège de France. Where he conveys the summary of his long experience in his latest book, “The imposed history” by presenting insights about writing history, especially its writing by the West, and the relationship between knowledge and power, and the role of the historian in society.

Take over d. Henry Lawrence, Chair of Contemporary History of the Arab World at the Collège de France. He has authored about twenty reference books on the Arab world and the Middle East. All of his works have been translated into Arabic, including “The French Campaign in Egypt: Bonaparte and Islam”, Sina Publishing, 1995 and “The Great Game: The Contemporary Arab East and International Conflicts”, Cordoba House for Printing, Publishing and Distribution, 1992 and “The Question of Palestine” in ten books, the National Center For translation, 2006-2017 and “Eastern crises”, Dar Afaq, 2018

محاضرة شهر سبتمبر ٢٠٢٢ لسلسلة محاضرات ميدان المنيرة يقدمها لكم المعهد الفرنسي بمصر ويلقيها المؤرخ الكبير هنري لورنس، الذي يعتلي كرسي التاريخ المعاصر للعالم العربي بجامعة “كوليج دي فرانس”. حيث ينقل خلاصة خبرته الطويلة في أحدث مؤلفاته «التاريخ المفروض» من خلال طرح أفكار ثاقبة عن كتابة التاريخ ولاسيما كتابته من قبل الغرب وعن العلاقة بين المعرفة والسلطة وعن دور المؤرخ في المجتمع.

يعتلي د. هنري لورنس كرسي التاريخ المعاصر للعالم العربي بجامعة “كوليج دي فرانس”. وقد ألف حول عشرين كتاباً مرجعياً عن العالم العربي والشرق الأوسط. ترجمت كافة أعماله إلى اللغة العربية ومن بينها “الحملة الفرنسية في مصر: بونابرت والإسلام”، سينا للنشر، ١٩٩٥و”اللعبة الكبرى: الشرق العربي المعاصر والصراعات الدولية”، دار قرطبة للطباعة والنشر والتوزيع،١٩٩٢و”مسألة فلسطين” في عشرة كتب، المركز القومي للترجمة، ٢٠٠٦ – ٢٠١٧و”الأزمات الشرقية” ، دار آفاق، ٢٠١٨

  La conferenza di settembre 2022 per la Munira Square Lecture Series ti sarà presentata dall’Istituto francese in Egitto e tenuta dal grande storico Henry Lawrence, che detiene la cattedra di Storia contemporanea del mondo arabo al Collège de France. Dove trasmette la sintesi della sua lunga esperienza nel suo ultimo libro, “La storia imposta”, presentando intuizioni sulla scrittura della storia, in particolare la sua scrittura da parte dell’Occidente, e il rapporto tra conoscenza e potere, e il ruolo dello storico nella società.

Prendere in consegna d. Henry Lawrence, Cattedra di Storia contemporanea del mondo arabo al Collège de France. È autore di una ventina di libri di riferimento sul mondo arabo e il Medio Oriente. Tutte le sue opere sono state tradotte in arabo, tra cui “The French Campaign in Egypt: Bonaparte and Islam”, Sina Publishing, 1995 e “The Great Game: The Contemporary Arab East and International Conflicts”, Cordoba House for Printing, Publishing and Distribution , 1992 e “The Question of Palestine” in dieci libri, il National Center For translation, 2006-2017 e “Eastern Crisses”, Dar Afaq, 2018
