 “I’m One and also Two” | Exhibition Opening @ MASQ

This year, the MASQ (Maq‘ad of Sultan Qaitbey) cultural hub in Cairo will mark the Europe Day by celebrating the cultural exchange between Europe and Egypt, nowadays and throughout history. We invite you all to attend the opening of the multimedia art exhibition “I’m One and also Two”. On both sides of the Mediterranean, in Egypt and in Europe, art and culture – creative ideas, various forms of expression, turning abstract concepts into material forms—developed in parallel, or convergently, or differently, but always in mutually enriching interactions. The great European poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe brilliantly captured such coexistence and interdependence in the poem “Gingko Biloba” published in his “West-Eastern Diwan”: Is it but one being single, Which as same itself divides? Are there two which choose to mingle So that each as one now hides? to which he gave the reply: “I am one and also two”. The exhibition will include a collection of artworks in different mediums that explore various aspects of the interrelation between Egyptian and European cultures. The exhibition includes sculptures, paintings, photography, video projections, collage, and installations by the following artists: –

افتتاح معرض أنا واحد وأيضاً إثنان” بمقعد السلطان قايتباي

سيحتفل المركز الثقافي مقعد السلطان قايتباي هذا العام بيوم أوروبا عن طريق الاحتفاء بالتبادل الثقافي بين أوروبا ومصر في الوقت الحاضر وعبرالتاريخ. ولذلك ندعوكم جميعًا لحضور افتتاح المعرض الفني للوسائط المتعددة “أنا واحد واثنان أيضًا”.

تطور الفن والثقافة على ضفافي البحر المتوسط، في مصر وأوروبا بشكل موازي أومتشابه، واحياناً مختلف، ولكن دائماً كان هذا التبادل مثري للطرفين. وتطورت من خلاله الأفكار الإبداعية، وأشكال التعبير المختلفة، وتحويل المفاهيم المجردة لأشكال مادية. عبّر الشاعر الأوروبي الكبير يوهان جوته ببراعة عن هذا التعايش والاعتماد المتبادل في قصيدة ” شجرة المعبد ” التي نشرها في “ديوان الغرب الشرقي” متحدثاً عن شجرة “جنكو ذات الفصين”:

“هل هي كائن حي واحد، وانشق في نفسه؟ أم هما شجرتان اختارا أن يتم الاعتراف بهما ككائن واحد؟” وأجاب على هذا السؤال: “أنا واحد وإثنان أيضاً.

سيشمل المعرض مجموعة من الأعمال الفنية في مختلف الوسائط التي تستكشف جوانب مختلفة من العلاقة المتبادلة بين الثقافتين المصرية والأوروبية. يشتمل المعرض على أعمال فنية في وسائط النحت، والتصوير الزيتي، والتصويرالفوتوجرافي، والفيديو، والكولاج، والتركيبات الفنية للفنانين التاليين:

Quest’anno, l’hub culturale MASQ (Maq’ad of Sultan Qaitbey) al Cairo segnerà la Giornata dell’Europa celebrando lo scambio culturale tra l’Europa e l’Egitto, oggi e nel corso della storia. Vi invitiamo tutti a partecipare all’inaugurazione della mostra d’arte multimediale “Io sono uno e anche due”.Su entrambe le sponde del Mediterraneo, in Egitto e in Europa, l’arte e la cultura – idee creative, varie forme espressive, trasformando concetti astratti in forme materiali – si sono sviluppate in parallelo, oin modo convergente, o diversamente, ma sempre in interazioni e che si arrichisono reciprocamente. Il grande poeta europeo Johann Wolfgang von Goethe ha catturato brillantemente tale convivenza e interdipendenza nel poema “Gingko Biloba” pubblicato nel suo “West-Eastern Diwan”: È solo uno essere single,Che come se stesso divide?Ce ne sono due che scelgono di socializzareIn modo che ciascuno come uno ora si nasconda?al che ha risposto: “Io sono uno e anche due”.La mostra includerà una collezione di opere d’arte in diversi mezzi che esplorano vari aspetti dell’interrelazione tra le culture egiziane ed europee. La mostra comprende sculture, dipinti, fotografie, videoproiezioni, collage e installazioni dei seguenti artisti:-
