How To Disappear Completely كيف تختفي تماماً؟ | D-CAF 21

October 17, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

How to disappear completely is an augmented audio narrative; a new artform conceived at the intersection of
literature and gaming. Imagine listening to an audiobook about the city where you live; only, the events of the novel
unfold episodically as you walk through the sites where the action takes place.
This immersive storytelling device uses geo-location and a corresponding smartphone application to transform the
urban space into a real-life open world computer game. As they walk through the streets guided by the twists and
turns of the plot, players discover the city in a new light.
The project is produced by the Hungarian MeetLab studio, a multifunctional semi-open creative workshop and
space for project incubation based in Budapest. MeetLab’s work focuses on interdisciplinary art and technology
research with the aim of creating innovative art projects that defy categorization, and bridging the gap between art
and technology.
How to Disappear Completely is co-created by architect Balint Toth and writer, playwright, and independent
filmmaker Ambrus Ivanyos. Alongside his architectural work, Toth develops public space installations and
considers art presented in public spaces to be a soft tool of urban development. Ivanyos has been experimenting
for several years with different game formats and interactive installations, as well as exploring new interdisciplinary
approaches to theater.
After stunning audiences in Hungary and Turkey, How to Disappear Completely will make its Arab World premiere
as part of the Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival.
