EU and ACFC celebrate Culture in May! On the occasion of the EU Month in Egypt the Austrian Cultural Forum is delighted to participate in this year’s ‘Europe Goes Green Films’ which will take place in Alexandria from May 10 – 29, 2022.

Welcome to Sodom (AT 2018) Agbogbloshie in Ghana is proven to be one of most poisonous places in the world. It is the largest electronic waste dump in Africa. About 6000 women, men and children live and work here. They call it „Sodom“. Every year about 250,000 tons of discarded computers, smartphones, air conditioning tanks and other devices end up there. Illegally. This documentary portrays the lives of people whose existence and everyday life is not only formed by modern technology but threatened by it too.

The screening of the documentary will be followed by a panel discussion consisting of:

*   Christian Krönes, film director of ‘Welcome to Sodom’, Blackbox Film and Media Production (online participation)

*   Georg Krenn, Austrian Commercial Counsellor & Head of ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Cairo

*   Dr. Hany El Menshawy, Board Member of the Alexandrian Business Association

*   Ahmed Yassin, Co-founder and marketing strategist of Banlastic Egypt, Social Enterprise

يحتفل الاتحاد الأوروبي والملتقي الثقافي النمساوي بالقاهرة بمايو شهر الثقافة بمناسبة شهر الاتحاد الأوروبي في مصر، يسعد المنتدى الثقافي النمساوي بالمشاركة في “Europe Goes Green Films” لهذا العام والذي سيعقد في الإسكندرية في الفترة من 10 إلى 29 مايو 2022.

مرحبًا بكم في مدينة سودوم (AT 2018)

ثبت أن مدينة (أغبوغبلوشي- Agbogbloshie) في غانا هي واحدة من أكثر الأماكن السامة في العالم حيث إنها أكبر مكب للنفايات الإلكترونية في إفريقيا. يعيش ويعمل هناك حوالي 6000 امرأة ورجل وطفل. يسمونها “سودوم”.

 كل عام ينتهي المطاف بحوالي 250.000 طن من أجهزة الكمبيوتر والهواتف الذكية وخزانات تكييف الهواء وغيرها من الأجهزة المهملة هناك و بشكل غير قانوني.

يصور هذا الفيلم الوثائقي حياة الأشخاص الذين لا تعتمد حياتهم اليومية علي  التكنولوجيا الحديثة فحسب، بل تهددها أيضًا.

يتبع عرض الفيلم الوثائقي حلقة نقاش حيث يستضيف سابين كروسنبرونر – نائب رئيس البعثة في سفارة النمسا ومدير المنتدى الثقافي النمساوي بالقاهرة- الضيوف:

Benvenuti a Sodoma (AT 2018) La città di Agbogbloshie in Ghana ha dimostrato di essere uno dei luoghi più velenosi del mondo. È la più grande discarica di rifiuti elettronici in Africa. Circa 6000 donne, uomini e bambini vivono e lavorano qui. Lo chiamano “Sodoma”. Ogni anno ci  vengono illegalmente buttati circa 250.000 tonnellate di computer, smartphone, serbatoi di aria condizionata e altri dispositivi dismessi.Questo documentario ritrae la vita di persone la cui esistenza e vita quotidiana non è solo formata dalla tecnologia moderna, ma anche minacciata da essa.

Alla proiezione del documentario seguirà una tavola rotonda composta da:
