بمشاركة فنانين من أمريكا وإيطاليا وبولندا: انطلاق عروض النسخة السادسة من مهرجان بريكينج والز

القاهرة – ١٥ فبراير ٢٠٢٤ – تنطلق خلال هذا الشهر فعاليات النسخة السادسة من مهرجان بريكينج والز Breaking Walls، المخصص للرقص المعاصر والفنون الأدائية. يشارك في المهرجان هذا العام فنانين من الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وإيطاليا وبولندا، بالإضافة إلى نخبة من الفنانين المصريين. تستند فكرة المهرجان إلى تعزيز الروابط والتفاعل بين الفنانين الأجانب والشباب المصريين، بهدف تبادل الخبرات من خلال تنظيم ورش عمل وعروض مشتركة في أماكن غير تقليدية. تم تنظيم ورش عمل خاصة للفنانين الضيوف على مدى أكثر من أسبوعين، شارك فيها العديد من الفنانين المصريين، وتم اختيار بعضهم للمشاركة مع الضيوف في سلسلة من العروض المتنوعة.

قام الفنان حازم حيدر بتأسيس المهرجان عام ٢٠١٧ وعلى مدار ست سنوات قام المهرجان باستضافة عشرات الفنانين العالميين الذين قاموا بتنظيم العديد من ورش العمل المختلفة التي استفاد منها مئات الفنانين المصريين المهتمين بالفنون الادائية. عن هذه الدورة أكد حازم حيدر أن المهرجان مستمر في رسالته لربط فنانين محليين وعالميين بهدف تطوير عروض ابتكارية في أماكن غير تقليدية وخلق فرص للتطوير الاحترافي لمجتمع الرقص المعاصر في مصر. وأضاف أن برنامج ورش العمل والعروض لهذا العام يتنوع بين الرقص المعاصر والمسرح الجسدي والارتجال.

من جانبه قال سامي داوود المدير التنفيذي للمهرجان بأن الهدف بجانب تبادل الخبرات بين الفنانين المصريين والأجانب هو الخروج بعروض الرقص المعاصر من القاعات المغلقة والمسارح التقليدية إلى ساحات وأماكن بديلة بهدف التقرب والتواصل مع الجمهور بشكل أوسع وهو ما ينعكس على العروض التي تقام على مدار تسعة أيام في أماكن متفرقة بالقاهرة والمنيا.

يقام المهرجان في الفترة من ٢٢ فبراير وحتى الأول من مارس بدعم من السفارة الأمريكية بالقاهرة، والمعهد الثقافي الإيطالي، والسفارة البولندية بالقاهرة، وبمشاركة المركز الثقافي النمساوي، ومعهد ثربتانتس، وستارت أب هاوس، ومقعد السلطان قايتباي، وإيسوروس ديزاين هاوس، وجمعية الجزويت بالقاهرة والمنيا. تنظم المهرجان فرقة نوت للرقص المعاصر.

With the participation of artists from the USA, Italy, and Poland: Breaking Walls Festival launches its sixth edition

Cairo – February 15, 2024 – Breaking Walls festival, now in its sixth edition, is set to unfold this month, celebrating the realms of contemporary dance and performing arts. This year’s edition promises a dynamic fusion of artistic expression, uniting talents from the United States, Italy, Poland, and a carefully selected group of Egyptian dancers. The festival’s primary objective is to fortify the bonds between international and emerging Egyptian artists, cultivating a rich exchange of experiences through a blend of workshops and collaborative performances in unconventional venues.

In the spirit of collaboration, special workshops and auditions have been meticulously organized for the guest artists to serve as a platform for engagement with numerous Egyptian dancers, offering a unique opportunity for cultural exchange and skill-sharing. Notably, some of these Egyptian dancers have been selected to join their international counterparts in a series of distinctive performances, adding an extra layer of diversity and depth to the festival’s offerings.

About this edition, Breaking Walls Festival Founder Hazem Header says “The festival continues to be a catalyst for cross-cultural dialogue and artistic exploration, providing a space where creativity knows no boundaries”. Header founded the festival in 2017, and over six years, it has hosted dozens of global artists who organized various workshops, benefiting hundreds of Egyptian artists interested in performing arts. He added that this year’s program of workshops and performances encompasses contemporary dance, physical theater, and improvisation.

The Festival’s Executive Director, Sami Daoud, emphasized the festival’s dual mission of fostering the exchange of experiences among Egyptian and international artists while transcending conventional performance spaces’ confines. Daoud says “The overarching goal is to propel contemporary dance out of the confines of closed halls and traditional theaters, introducing it to alternative spaces. This innovative approach seeks to actively engage and connect with a wider audience. This vision comes to life through a diverse array of performances occurring over nine days, scattered across both Cairo and Minya”.

This year’s edition is taking place from 22 February till the 1st of March. It is supported by the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, the Italian Cultural Institute, and the Polish Embassy, in collaboration with the Austrian Cultural Forum, Cervantes Institute, Start-Up Haus, Maq’ad of Sultan Qaitbey, Esorus Design Haus, and Jesuit Association in Cairo and Minya. The festival is organized by NÜT Dance Company.
