Book talk: Yasmin El-Rifae & Sally AlHaq on RADIUS

RADIUS is an account of the feminist group Operation Anti Sexual Harassment and Assault. A blend of narrative non-fiction, interviews, and memoir, the book is both a document of this extraordinary history and an attempt to connect it to other areas of social and political life and struggle.

Yasmin El-Rifae is a writer and editor whose work has recently appeared in Mada Masr, The New York Times, Granta, Lux magazine, and other outlets. She also co-produces the Palestine Festival of Literature. RADIUS is her first book.

Sally AlHaq is a writer, teacher and researcher. In her work as an educator, she focuses on the intersections between gender and colonialism and nationalism, and explores decolonized approaches to knowledge in hopes to bridge the political and the personal. She co-founded the Ikhtyar African Feminist Collective (2013-2022). Sally hopes for her work in exploring archives to co-create both collective and digital memories. She is published on various platforms. Seats are limited. Our doors open at 5:30 and close at 6:15 or earlier, in case our lecture room has reached its full capacity.

RADIUS هو سرد لمجموعة نسوية لمناهضة التحرش والاعتداء الجنسي. مزيج من السرد القصصي والمقابلات والمذكرات ، الكتاب هو وثيقة لهذا التاريخ الاستثنائي ومحاولة لربطه بمجالات أخرى من الحياة الاجتماعية والسياسية والنضال.

ياسمين الرفاعي كاتبة ومحررة ظهرت أعمالها مؤخرًا في مدى مصر، ونيويورك تايمز، وغرانتا، ومجلة لوكس ، ومنافذ أخرى. كما شاركت في إنتاج مهرجان فلسطين للآداب. RADIUS هو كتابها الأول.

سالي الحق كاتبة ومعلمة وباحثة. في عملها كمعلمة ، تركز على التقاطعات بين نوع الجنس والاستعمار والقومية ، وتستكشف مناهج المعرفة التي تم إنهاء الاستعمار عليها على أمل أن تربط بين السياسي والشخصي. شاركت في تأسيس تجمع إختيار النسوي الأفريقي (2013-2022). تأمل سالي في عملها في استكشاف الأرشيفات للمشاركة في إنشاء ذكريات جماعية ورقمية. تم نشرها على منصات مختلفة.

Yasmin El-Rifae è uno scrittore ed editore il cui lavoro è recentemente apparso su Mada Masr, The New York Times, Granta, la rivista Lux e altri punti vendita. Coproduce anche il Palestine Festival of Literature. RADIUS è il suo primo libro.

Sally AlHaq è una scrittrice, insegnante e ricercatrice. Nel suo lavoro di educatrice, si concentra sulle intersezioni tra genere, colonialismo e nazionalismo ed esplora approcci decolonizzati alla conoscenza nella speranza di collegare il politico e il personale. Ha co-fondato l’Ikhtyar African Feminist Collective (2013-2022). Sally spera nel suo lavoro nell’esplorazione degli archivi per co-creare ricordi sia collettivi che digitali. È pubblicata su varie piattaforme.
