We invite you to experience this year’s
Oscar-winning documentary “20 Days in Mariupol” by
Ukrainian videographer, journalist, and war correspondent Mstyslav Chernov, followed by
a thematic photo exhibition “Mariupol” to deepen the impact of the film’s story.
Film Description:
Just on the eve of 2022 Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, a team of Ukrainian Associated Press journalists happened to arrive at the port city of Mariupol. For three weeks, they documented a city under attack
. Trapped in the besieged urban area, they captured some of the most defining images of the war. As the only international journalists who remained, they risked their lives to make sure the world saw the truth.
The movie draws on daily dispatches and personal footage, offering a raw, harrowing account of the human toll of war
and the challenges of reporting from a conflict zone. The documentary provides a vivid portrayal of Mariupol’s transformation from a lively city to a symbol of human tragedy.
Photo Exhibition
Following the screening, you are welcome to explore a collection of powerful photographs that give a deeper visual insight of the suffering and resilience of Mariupol’s people during the siege
. These images, captured by Chernov’s team, highlight the tragic events documented in the film, bringing the story of Mariupol even closer.
