๐€๐›๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐Ÿ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฆ: The living heritage of ancient Egypt is still being explored and studied everyday by thousands of researchers around the world; among whom hundreds of professionals are actively engaged in archaeological excavations all over Egypt.
Some of the Memories of workmen being involved in 50 years of the Leiden-Turin Expedition to in Saqqara are narrated in this movie to document the contribution of a major group of these professionals by linking this contribution to their historical legacy since the late 19th century.
The Workmen speak here about their work as technical workmen, foremen, restoration workmen and also about their passion to excavate, their inheritance of the profession and take us to a short journey to their daily routine on the site.
Saqqara is a core part of the Memphite necropolis, the major ancient Egyptian necropolis since the dawn of ancient Egyptian history. At the New Kingdom necropolis of Saqqara, the Leiden-Turin Expedition excavates since 1975 where the tombs of Horemheb and Maya were discovered and reconstructed and where the mission is still uncovering the secret of this major area of the magnificent cemetery.
