دي*سينك ٢١: الصوت كنهر احتمالات للصورة

In this edition of «de*sync», sound designer Ahmed Sabbour invites you to take an explorative look at (and listen to) the sonic sphere of moving images. The evening will explore how sound can elevate, manipulate, and counterpoint what is on the screen and how it underlines the emotional dimension of a film. . Sound can be a powerful – an often under-utilised – tool for filmmakers to invoke emotions, emphasise their narrative, create spaces, and expand the picture frame in a multitude of ways using what we hear, how we hear it, and whether we hear it at all. The potential of a more complex understanding of the relationship of sound and image in experimental films originally inspired us to choose the title de*sync for this series. Through a selection of mini-films, this evening will probe how transformative sound design can be to the narrative when the sound designer’s role is extended to a more creative and independent role in making films.

Ahmed Sabbour is a freelance sound designer/ sound engineer with six years of industry experience. After finishing a BA in Audio Production at SAE Institute in Oxford in 2015, Sabbour returned to Cairo where he has been working in the cinema and TV industry as well as the localisation industry, alongside directors including Yousry Nasrallah, Amr Salama, and Karim El-Shennawy.

«de*sync» is a series of events dedicated to film, video and moving image works. With this series we hope to create a more open format that intends to show and discuss the works of filmmakers and artists who like to experiment with image and sound and discuss their work with each other and the public. The series specifically considers works that emphasise experimentation in their formal, narrative or conceptual approach, that try to find different ways of working together and that open up to forms of representation or perspectives outside of established patterns. يدعونا مهندس الصوت أحمد صبور في هذه النسخة الجديدة من «دي*سينك» لإلقاء النظر أو استرقاق السمع للمساحة الصوتية المتورطة مع الصورة المتحركة. نحاول استشفاف كيف يبرز الصوت تفاصيل الصورة أو يتلاعب بها أو يناقضها. يكمن في الصوت قوة عظيمة غير مستخدمة بالقدر الكافي إذا تأملنا قوتها كأداة قادرة على استحضار مشاعر، التأكيد على ما في الصورة من معان محتملة، خلق عوالم على مسافة من الواقع أو اغراقنا في هذا الواقع بالتحكم فيما نسمع وما نمنع من سمعه.

عن طريق ثلاث أفلام قصيرة، نستكشف في هذا البرنامج كيف يضيق الكادر ويتوسع من خلال القدرة التحويلية للصوت وتصميمه في أعمال الصورة المتحركة كما نشهد على التحولات في السرد إذا ما أطلقنا العنان لمهندس الصوت بالكامل للتحكم في الفيلم.

أحمد صبور مهندس ومصمم صوت مستقل ذو ست سنوات من الخبرة في مجال صناعة الصوت والسينما. حصل على شهادته الجامعية في مجال الإنتاج الصوتي من معهد الهندسة الصوتية (إس إيه إي) بأوكسفورد في عام ٢٠١٥. عاد بعدها صبور إلى القاهرة ليعمل في صناعة السينما والتلفزيون جنبًا لجنب مع عدد من المخرجين المصريين منهم يسري نصرالله وعمرو سلامة وكريم الشناوي.

«دي*سينك» – سلسلة أمسيات مخصصة للأفلام والفيديو والصورة المتحركة والتي نأمل أن تكون أكثر انفتاحًا. نسعى من خلال العروض ان نناقش سويا أعمال فنانين/ات وصانعين/ات أفلام من محبي/ات التجريب بالصوت والصورة. يتناول «دي*سينك» بشكل خاص الأعمال التي تحمل جانبًا ما من التجريب الجمالي أو السردي أو المفاهيمي أو التي تحاول إيجاد طرق مختلفة للعمل سويًا. كما نهتم بتاريخ نوادي السينما والطرق البديلة للتجمع حول الأفلام. لمن ي/ترغب في عرض أعماله/ا ضمن عروض «دي*سينك» الشهرية بإمكانكم/ن إحضارها لمقر مركز الصورة المعاصرة أو إرسالها إلى البريد الإلكتروني: de_sync@ciccairo.com

In questa edizione di «de*sync», il sound designer Ahmed Sabbour vi invita a dare uno sguardo esplorativo (e ascoltare) alla sfera sonora delle immagini in movimento. La serata esplorerà come il suono può elevare, manipolare e contrapporre ciò che è sullo schermo e come sottolinea la dimensione emotiva di un film. . Il suono può essere uno strumento potente, spesso sottoutilizzato, per i registi per invocare emozioni, enfatizzare la loro narrazione, creare spazi ed espandere la cornice dell’immagine in una moltitudine di modi usando ciò che ascoltiamo, come lo ascoltiamo e se ascoltiamo affatto. Il potenziale di una comprensione più complessa della relazione tra suono e immagine nei film sperimentali ci ha originariamente ispirato a scegliere il titolo de*sync per questa serie. Attraverso una selezione di mini-film, questa serata sonderà come il sound design trasformativo può essere per la narrazione quando il ruolo del sound designer viene esteso a un ruolo più creativo e indipendente nella realizzazione di film.

Ahmed Sabbour è un sound designer/ingegnere del suono freelance con sei anni di esperienza nel settore. Dopo aver terminato una laurea in produzione audio presso il SAE Institute di Oxford nel 2015, Sabbour è tornato al Cairo, dove ha lavorato nel settore cinematografico e televisivo, nonché nel settore della localizzazione, accanto a registi tra cui Yousry Nasrallah, Amr Salama e Karim El- Shennawy.

«de*sync» è una serie di eventi dedicati a film, video e opere di immagini in movimento. Con questa serie speriamo di creare un formato più aperto che intenda mostrare e discutere le opere di registi e artisti che amano sperimentare con l’immagine e il suono e discutere il proprio lavoro tra di loro e con il pubblico. La serie considera specificamente opere che enfatizzano la sperimentazione nel loro approccio formale, narrativo o concettuale, che cercano di trovare modi diversi di lavorare insieme e che si aprono a forme di rappresentazione o prospettive al di fuori degli schemi stabiliti.
