This meeting will aim to showcase the cultural exchange and the artistic project developed as part of the “Something Else Symposium.” The French artist Mathilde Maury-Siméoni will share her creative experience in Cairo, her artistic approach, and her perspective on the exhibition theme, “Emancipate Yourself from Mental Slavery.” She’ll present works inspired by traditional crafts, architecture, and narratives from both countries. The goal is to foster a dialogue between the cultures of the Mediterranean region, exploring our history to better question our present.
Mathilde’s presence in Cairo is supported by the Anna Lindh Foundation’s mobility grant for action.
L’Institut Français d’Égypte est heureux d’accueillir le projet Something Else Symposium en mettant à disposition ses espaces pour cette événement.
Cette rencontre visera à présenter l’échange culturel et le projet artistique réalisé dans le cadre du “Something Else Symposium”. L’artiste intervenant partagera son expérience de création au Caire, sa démarche artistique et son approche du sujet de l’exposition “Emancipate yourself from mental slavery”, et présentera des œuvres inspirées d’artisanats traditionnels, de l’architecture et des récits des deux pays. L’objectif est de voir émerger un dialogue artistique entre les cultures du bassin Méditerranéen, en explorant notre histoire pour mieux questionner notre présent.
La présence de Mathilde au Caire est soutenue par la bourse de mobilité pour l’action de la Fondation Anna Lindh.
