“Mermaids Don’t Cry”
Annika dreams about having the perfect mermaid fin, because in the water she feels light and carefree. Her chaotic life consists of working as a supermarket saleswoman, hosting her father who has unexpectedly moved in, and taking care of her friend Karo’s two children while she goes on dates. Living the mermaid fairytale seems far away when there’s no money for the costume and no support from family and friends. Annika realizes that she needs to take control of her life to change her own fate. “Mermaids Don’t Cry” is the story of an unfulfilled longing, the complex nuances of human relationships and the growing self-awareness that leads to becoming a heroine.
